Dr Robert J Witherspoon is a male Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.
Dr Witherspoon studied Medicine at the University of Newcastle, and Dentistry at the University of Queensland, he was awarded with honours in both degrees. He decided to become an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon when he was working as a a junior doctor. During his specialist training he was exposed to all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He trained in a number of hospitals, which included; the John Hunter Hospital Newcastle, Prince of Wales Hospital Randwick, Canberra Hospital, Westmead Hospital, and the Austin Hospital Melbourne. Dr Witherspoon was awarded his Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2012.
Dr Witherspoon has served in the Australian Army, as a Regimental Medical Officer, in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps with operational service in East Timor, Bougainville and Iraq. He is currently a Standby Reservist.
Dr Witherspoon is a Consultant Surgeon in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at The Canberra Hospital, and divides his time between both public and private practice. He is actively involved in the training of junior surgeons and also holds several appointments with the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons.
Dr Witherspoon holds all of the required accreditations, recognitions, and licenses to practice as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.
