Dr Raymond YF Lam is a male Specialist Orthodontist who speaks Cantonese (as well as English).
Ray grew up in Bunbury and attended South Bunbury Primary School and Newton Moore Senior High School. His highlight during his schooling was election to the Student Executive in Year 12.
He relocated to Perth where he completed his basic dentistry degree and orthodontics specialisation at the University of Western Australia. Ray was also engaged in teaching and research having completed a Doctor of Philosophy as well as fulfilling a part-time position as Senior Lecturer at the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia.
Ray was awarded numerous prizes and awards during his university studies. He graduated with honours and dux of his graduating year in dentistry winning the Wynn Needman Memorial prize and the Pierre Fauchard Undergraduate Award of Merit. For his PhD, he was awarded an Australian Postgraduate Award with his thesis containing 11 published papers. His paper on dental trauma is currently one of the most cited articles in the Australian Dental Journal. In orthodontics, he was awarded the Headley-Cook award for the most outstanding research dissertation. He also won the Australasian Orthodontic Society Foundation for Research and Education Best Poster and the Australasian Begg Society of Orthodontics Best Presentation as an orthodontic resident. More recently, he is the recipient of the Milton Sims Medal, awarded to the most meritorious graduate in Australia and New Zealand during 2020-2022 based on academic, research and clinical excellence.
