BDS (Adel), General Dentist
Dr Ly Tran is a male General Dentist.
Dr Ly is a Board accredited dentist having obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery qualifications from the University of Adelaide in 2009 and draws on over 16 years of dental experience. He previously worked in the Special Needs Unit (SNU) at the Adelaide Dental Hospital during his final year of dental studies where he was part of the team that was responsible for the management of medically compromised patients with chronic illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, cancer and transplant recipients. During his time with the South Australian Dental Service Dr Ly was also fortunate to be offered an opportunity to work with the Broken Hill-based Royal Flying Doctors Service. He remained in this role for a year at the Special Needs Unit before transitioning to private practice when he accepted a position at a northern suburbs-based dental clinic.
In June of 2009 Dr Ly commenced his employment at Jamestown Dental under the mentorship of Dr Richard Daley, initially on a part-time basis before committing to Jamestown full-time in early 2010 when he became Practice Principal. After successfully managing the practice for 6 years Dr Ly made the difficult decision to relocate back to his hometown of Adelaide to be closer with friends and family.
Due to Dr Ly’s long term professional relationship with Dr Tony McInerny, Dr Ly was provided the privilege to care for Dr Tony’s established and well-respected dental practice in Riverton in 2018. This was soon followed by another fortunate opportunity to manage Dr Robert Bickmore’s long-standing clinic in Balaklava the following year.
Dr Ly is a gentle, caring dentist and remains committed to ensuring that his wonderful regional and remote patients receive access to the highest standards of modern dental care available by significantly increasing his scope of practice to include implants, oral surgery, Invisalign (clear braces) and the fabrication of chairside, cutting-edge porcelain CEREC crownwork. Dr Ly also actively participates in regular continuing professional development courses throughout the year across Australia (and abroad) to ensure that his knowledge and skills always remains up to date.
Dr Ly is also currently studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Orthodontics (UK) which keeps him very busy as he continues to juggle work life with caring for his 5 year old daughter and newborn son alongside his wonderfully supportive wife.
Dr Ly believes strongly in giving back to the country that has provided him with so many opportunities and as such is involved with various local community projects, such as volunteering his time and dental skills to helping the homeless people in Adelaide through his work with the Salvation Army.
