Dr Peter CJ Tien is a male Specialist Orthodontist who speaks Cantonese, Malay and Mandarin (as well as English).
Dr Peter Tien is a registered specialist Orthodontist in Australia. Dr Tien completed a 3-year Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Western Australia in 1989, and continued to study dentistry from 1990-1993. During this period he received the Lady James Prize in Physics and the Convocation Prize in Dentistry. Dr Tien obtained his Bachelor of Dental Science degree in 1993 and worked as a general dental surgeon in Perth as well as overseas for a period of 4 years before returning to Australia to undertake his specialist training in Orthodontics at the University of Western Australia. Dr Tien obtained his Master of Dental Science degree in Orthodontics in 2000.
Dr Tien was certified by the Australian Orthodontic Board in 2002, and received his Invisalign accreditation in 2002. Dr Tien received his Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in the Special Field of Orthodontics in 2008.
Dr Tien is a Full Member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists, and had served as past honorary Treasurer of the Australian Society of Orthodontists (WA Branch). Dr Tien was part of the organizing committee and chaired the Technology Session at the 18th Australian Orthodontic Congress. Dr Tien is also an International member of the American Association of Orthodontists. He is also a registered Dental Surgeon with the Dental Board of Malaysia.
Dr Tien combines part-time private practice at Cockburn and Fremantle Orthodontics / Endodontics, and teaching at the University of Western Australia since 2000. He was initially a clinical tutor in the Department of Orthodontics from 2000-2007. Dr Tien subsequently became Senior Lecturer from 2007-2009, and Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia from 2009 to the present. Dr Tien has been an invited lecturer at Curtin University to the Dental Hygiene and Therapy, and Bachelor of Oral Health students every year since 2003 to the present.
