Dr Maryam Ghafournia is a female General Dentist.
Dr Maryam Ghafournia joins the team at Maven Dental Cotton Tree with almost 15 years of experience in the dental industry. Originally from Iran, Dr Ghafournia completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery at the Isfahan University of Medical Science in 2006. Her studies didn’t stop there though, graduating with a master of Science (Paediatric Dentistry) in 2009.
Dr Ghafournia spent 10 years working in Iran as a paediatric dentist before making the move to the Sunshine Coast. After almost a year working as a general dentist in Noosa, she joined the Maven Dental Cotton Tree team in 2020.
Dr Ghafournia places great importance on professional development and education after previously working as an assistant professor at Isfahan Dental School (Iran). She doesn’t see dentistry as her job but her passion and is always looking for opportunities to further her skills.
Maryam has a proven ability to communicate effectively with children and their relatives about treatment options and reassuring them about possible complications. She has experience performing complex dental procedures under general anesthesia and conscious sedation and treating children with special needs.
She has a keen interest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Dr Ghafournia believes today’s dentistry can offer more than just treating an infected tooth or restoring a broken filling. Dentistry today is also capable of giving her patients the confidence of looking good through a myriad of aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry procedures.
