Dr Maria Smetanina is a female General Dentist who speaks Estonian and Russian (as well as English).
Dr Maria Smetanina is a key member of our general dentistry team. She brings more than a decade of local and international experience. She is also fluent in several languages other than English, including Russian and Estonian.
Maria is very personable and her patients rave about her communication skills, emotional intelligence and level of care. As a mother of one, she is a great listener and understands how to calm fears and reduce anxiety, in children as well as adults.
Her professional interests include advanced treatments in Orthodontics, such as clear aligners (e.g. Invisalign) or removable expansion plates, and Aesthetic or Cosmetic Dentistry. Following more than 150 hours of continuing education and development, she also has developed an advanced understanding of Oral Myofunctional Therapy for tongue thrust and training to eliminate thumb and finger sucking.
The world of dentistry is rapidly changing and Maria is constantly studying to stay on top of the latest technological advances in dentistry. She particularly enjoys researching new developments to improve her patient’s management. Maria translates this knowledge to inform her patients of all the possible treatment options so they are actively involved in choosing a treatment plan that suits their circumstances.
