Dr Lisa M Bowdin is a female Specialist Paediatric Dentist.
Dr Lisa was born in Penrith, New South Wales. Her Father served in the Australian Navy as a submariner, and her family moved regularly between states with his deployments. Her family eventually settled in Western Australia while she was in primary school. Dr Lisa completed her secondary school education at Frederick Irwin Anglican School in Mandurah, pursuing various musical and sporting interests.
Dr Lisa completed a Bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Western Australia, graduating in 2012. Upon graduation, Dr Lisa relocated to Bunbury to serve the rural community in the South West of Western Australia, providing dental care for both adults and children, and honing her clinical skills. It was during this time that Dr Lisa developed her interest in paediatric dentistry. Dr Lisa completed the Primary Examinations with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, and was awarded five subject commendations.
With this background of academic and clinical excellence, Dr Lisa was selected for the prestigious specialist postgraduate training program in Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Western Australia. Dr Lisa graduated with a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry (Paediatric Dentistry). The clinical component of this rigorous specialist training program was delivered between the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia, and at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children. Dr Lisa served as a Paediatric Dental Registrar during her training program, and received advanced training in treating children with complex medical, dental and special needs.
Dr Lisa is an experienced and highly regarded Specialist Paediatric Dentist in Perth, having worked in private practice for a number of years. Dr Lisa is experienced in the use of advanced behavioral management techniques, relative analgesia and comprehensive oral rehabilitation under General Anaesthesia (GA). Her focus is to create a safe and happy space for children to visit their dentist, thereby creating lifelong, healthy oral habits. Dr Lisa has an appointment with the Perth Children’s Hospital Dental Department, providing after-hours emergency care to children who have experienced dental trauma. Dr Lisa continues to contribute to education and research in the Dental Department at the University of Western Australia, where she generously shares her knowledge and expertise in paediatric dentistry with undergraduate dental students.
Dr Lisa is actively involved in the dental profession, and has served for many years on the WA Committee of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentisty (ANZSPD). Dr Lisa is currently the WA Federal Councillor on the national ANZSPD Council. Dr Lisa is also a member of the International Academy of Paediatric Dentistry, the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry, the Australasian Academy of Paediatric Dentistry and The International Academy of Dental Traumatology. She regularly attends national and international conferences, and has spoken and presented her research at multiple conferences.
