BAppSc (Physiotherapy), BDent, General Dentist
Dr Khazima Riaz is a female General Dentist who speaks Hindi and Urdu (as well as English).
Dr Khazima Riaz wanted to be a dentist for as long as she can remember... even as a young child. “My dentist was lovely; that was a big reason why,” she says.
In dental school, she thoroughly enjoyed seeing what a huge difference her skills could make for people who were self-conscious about their smile and appearance. Then in 2004, she completed her Bachelor of Dentistry at the University of Sydney. In her final year she won the Oral B Foundation prize for outstanding clinical competencies.
The impact of making a difference on her patients’ overall health is something that Dr Riaz finds highly rewarding. She says the best part about being a family dentist is the opportunity it gives her to meet different people each day. “I learn so much from talking to my patients … interacting with people and learning about them.”
She also enjoys improving the function and aesthetics of teeth. As a member of the Australian Dental Association and peer organisations such as the Western Division Study Group, she continues to stay active in furthering her professional education.
