People often ask me why I became a dentist, and I say that I’ve often wondered about that myself. It wasn’t something I set out to do, but it has turned out to be the best decision I never made! I’ve had such a varied and interesting career and have met a lot of wonderful people along the way. From starting as a Dental Officer in the Royal Australian Navy, in 1980 (the influence of my father and grandfather, who had affiliations with the Royal Dutch Marines and the Dutch Merchant Navy), to five years later, becoming a ‘civvie’ and moving to Perth and commencing work in Private Practice. In 2007, our family of 3 moved to Port Macquarie for an east coast ‘sea change’. My husband had fond memories of his teenage years in Bonny Hills, and it really did feel like ‘coming home’ for all of us when we settled here. I was very fortunate to secure a position with Sundial Dental and have been privileged to work and care for a lot of very special people. My free time is spent walking my dogs along the beach, trying to improve my golf and enjoying the lifestyle we have here in this beautiful part of the world.
