Dr Johan Weemaes is a male General Dentist.
Johan grew up with his family around the beaches and Olympic swimming pools of the Gold Coast. After finishing high school, he relocated to Brisbane to complete his study of a Bachelor of Dental science with first class honours. Since then he has gained an appreciation for both public and private work as a dentist while working in a community clinic in Woodridge and Ipswich, and private practice in Redbank Plains. Growing up as a competitive swimmer and having gone without the beach lifestyle for quite some time it seemed only natural to consider the beautiful sunshine coast his new home. Early on in Johan’s career he was introduced to the Avenue way by being the first winner of the Australian Dental Graduate of the Year Award in 2014 and his aspirations of joining the Avenue team became a reality.
Johan became co-owner and principal dentist of Avenue Dental Maroochydore and has helped build a culture of personal growth, warmth and exceptional care amongst the team. As an owner Johan provides training and coaching to his staff and associate dental team to provide the very best in the dental workforce.
With a strong emphasis on prevention, Johan practices gentle, personalised and comprehensive treatment for his patients with an aesthetic result to leave everyone smiling. Johan has a strong commitment to the pursuit of giving his patients the most up to date quality care by attending numerous educational courses each year covering a wide range of treatments.
While Johan does emphasize overall health, providing a wide range of dental treatment, he has particular interests in using different materials to provide aesthetic makeovers to people’s smiles. He has completed extensive surgical training to allow him to replace missing teeth with dental implants for his patients giving them back the smile and confidence they have always wanted. Johan loves the ability to help people every day in his line of work and enjoys every part of it.
Johan is a member of various study clubs, a graduate of the International Academy of Advanced dentistry, a member of the International Team for Implantology, a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and in 2020 is due to complete his Masters of Oral Implantology at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. In essence he loves what he does and continuously looks to improve himself to the highest standard.
For Johan he loves his work because it is a dynamic career where new materials and new techniques become available. Because of this coupled with his passion for learning it allows him to provide the very best results for his patients. On top of this he has the unique position to welcome new people to the Avenue family and build long lasting relationships with them every day. In doing this he also has the chance to make people feel comfortable, relaxed, and in control once again in the dental setting where they have had unsettling past experiences. For Johan this is the most rewarding experience ever. He is more than happy to welcome nervous or anxious patients to the practice, introduce them to our team and the way we practice, as well as to let them decide how we go about their treatment. Because of his caring and non-judgemental approach, Johan has developed a loyal following amongst his patients.
