Dr James J Kim is a male Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.
Dr James Kim is one of Sydney’s leading specialists in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He studied dentistry at the University of Queensland and medicine at the Australian National University. Dr Kim worked as a doctor in the ACT and NSW for several years before completing his specialist surgical training at the Canberra Hospital and Westmead Hospital. Following this, James was able to pursue his interests in the subspecialty areas of Paediatric and Facial Deformity Surgery, being fortunate to be selected for two prestigious fellowship training positions. Dr Kim completed a fellowship in Paediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, working daily in the surgical care of children with congenital abnormalities, craniofacial and cleft deformities. This was followed by a fellowship in Orthognathic and Trauma Surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, which offered unparalleled experience in treating a wide manner of complex dentofacial deformities and severe facial injuries.
Dr James Kim currently holds appointments as consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Westmead Hospital and the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, where he dedicates much of his time to education and training. He is the Supervisor of Training for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery trainees at Westmead Hospital. James is a clinical associate lecturer at the University of Sydney, where he provides teaching to orthodontic postgraduate students in a multidisciplinary setting for the treatment of dentofacial deformities. He is an active member of the surgical community and serves as a councillor for the Australian & New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ANZAOMS) as well as sitting on multiple committees for the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS). Dr James Kim practices the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with a particular interest in orthognathic surgery, surgical orthodontics, minimally invasive third molar surgery, and dental implantology.
