Dr Gerald A Thurnwald is a male Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.

Dr Thurnwald was born and raised in Adelaide. Whilst doing his dental degree he joined the Regular Army and served full time for 11 years. On leaving the army he undertook specialist training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery under Professor Frank Monsour in Brisbane. On completing his training requirements, Dr Thurnwald moved to the Gold Coast. He started his own practice in 1996 and was joined later by Dr Darren Tite and Dr Greg Paton. He is a Visiting Medical Officer at the Gold Coast Hospital involved in teaching and the treatment of facial trauma. Dr Thurnwald also teaches at the Griffith Dental School where he is an Adjunct Associate Professor.

Dr Thurnwald is an active member of the Army Reserve and has just completed 36 years in uniform. He is currently the senior dental officer in the army in Queensland with the rank of colonel. He was made a member of the Order of Australia in the Military Division in 1990 for work he undertook in the Regular Army.
