Dr Tino Mercado is a male Specialist Periodontist.
Tino finished his Postgraduate Diploma in Oral Pathology at the University of Queensland in 1997 and went on to finish his Masters in Dental Science in Periodontics in the same University in 2000. He was involved in the dental undergraduate and periodontal postgraduate training at the University of Queensland and more recently at the University of Sydney.
Presently he is involved in the Clinical Mentoring for the Oral Implant Course at the University of Sydney. He is active in research with the majority of his publications involving Periodontal Medicine looking at the link between Periodontal Disease and Diabetes Mellitus and also Rheumatoid Arthritis. He has commenced his PhD training at Griffith University, with developing techniques in regenerating bone on teeth and implants and treatment of peri-implantitis. He was recently elected as a Fellow of an international dental organisation – The Pierre Fauchard Academy, and he holds a Lecturer position at Charles Sturt University School of Dentistry in Bathurst.
He is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Australian Society of Periodontology, Australian Osseointegration Society, Australian New Zealand Academy of Periodontists, Asia Pacific Society of Periodontology, International Team of Implantology (ITI), Academy of Laser Dentistry and numerous local and district societies.
He is interested in the management of periodontal diseases and its impact on systemic health, periodontal cosmetic and surgical procedures, particularly Periodontal plastic surgery on teeth and implants. He enjoys living in the Blue Mountains and Sydney.
