Dr Emma D Megson is a female Specialist Periodontist.
Dr Emma Megson completed a Bachelor of Science (Statistics) at the University of New South Wales. This was followed by her undergraduate dental training at The University of Sydney, where she graduated with Honours at the top of her class. Her specialist periodontal training was completed at The University of Adelaide where she graduated with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons in the special stream of Periodontics. While studying, Emma was awarded several academic prizes and the Australian Postgraduate Award Scholarship.
She has gained extensive clinical experience at Westmead Hospital in Sydney, Rotherham General Hospital in the United Kingdom, and at the Adelaide Dental Hospital, as well as private general dental practice.
Emma has completed additional periodontal and implant training with the most highly regarded clinicians in the USA and Europe, and is committed to bringing excellence in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry to Hobart and Tasmania through her ongoing education with the ‘best-of-the-best’ in the world.
As she really enjoys sharing her interests in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry with her fellow colleagues, Emma is regularly asked to present around the country to Hygienists, Dentists and Periodontists. She was awarded the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists Medallion for her speaking skills. Emma is a Director for the International Team for Implantology Hobart Study Club and is involved is arranging relevant and interesting continuing education for the Dentists of Tasmania.
Emma joined Macquarie Street Periodontists in 2010 and is extremely happy being a Periodontist. She is known for her caring manner and clear communication.
Being dedicated to Tasmania, she makes a concerted effort in supporting Tasmanian businesses and products. She takes great pleasure in seeing the growth and success of our beautiful state. Emma is an amateur gardener, keen home sewer and generous cook. She loves entertaining friends and family at home, gentle bushwalks (with lots of breaks for tea and biscuits), and reading interesting novels. Emma has inherited the important responsibility of decorating the practice for Christmas and takes this very seriously.
