Dr Cath Hewitt is a female General Dentist.
Dr Cath Hewitt has a long history in health care. Her journey began as a Registered Nurse (hospital trained) with experience in critical care and emergency medicine.
Cath’s interest in psychology led her to further study and she completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Double Major in Psychology) in 1994, and a Diploma in Education Psychology in 1995 at the University of Queensland. A stint in general practice nursing within a university setting (QUT), provided further opportunity for skills development in preventive health, wound care, travel medicine and sexual health.
Dr Cath then studied Dentistry and graduated from the University of Queensland in 2007 with First Class Honours. Since graduation, Dr Cath has worked in both general private practice and in Queensland Health as a general dentist at South Brisbane Dental Hospital. She has worked extensively with people suffering from multiple and complex illnesses and also has experience in the dental needs of people undergoing radiation treatment for cancers of the head and neck. Additionally, she has extensive experience managing the challenging dental care of people requiring anti-resorptive therapy for metastatic and marrow disease.
Her special interests lie in preventive dentistry, oral surgery and negotiating the dental care for the seriously ill. Her aim is “to ensure that people leave better off than when they arrived”.
