BDS, MBChB, MDS (OMFS), FRACDS, Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and Specialist Oral Surgeon
Dr Anura Vyagurunathar is a male Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and Specialist Oral Surgeon who speaks Sinhalese and Tamil (as well as English).
Dr Anura received his degree in Dentistry in 1992. He completed training for a period of two years under Professor John E de B Norman, an internationally renowned, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and received his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 1998.
From 2002 to 2010, Dr Anura undertook a combined Medicine and Oral and Maxillofacial surgical (OMS)training at the University of Otago, Dunedin and Middlemore Hospital Auckland, New Zealand earning his medical degree and the OMS training.
In addition to his dental, medical and OMS training Dr Anura has completed a master’s degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University of Otago. His major research thesis was entitled “ Tumours of the minor salivary glands”. He has worked in the past as clinical associate lecturer in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department at the University of Sydney, Westmead Hospital.
He has presented his findings and research at international meetings including The Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Convocation and The Australia New Zealand Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons’ annual meetings.
Dr Anura has devoted his professional career to all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. To keep abreast of the latest developments in his specialty, he has always involved in continuing education in his field.
He has been married for 18 years to his wife and has three children. Dr Anura has many interests outside his specialty. He enjoys playing cricket, music, dancing reading and swimming.
