Dr Anthony D Chellappah is a male Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.
Dr Anthony Chellappah is an Australian Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with qualifications in Medicine and Dentistry as well as a Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. He is registered as a specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with the Medical and Dental Boards of Australia.
Raised in Western Sydney and having attended the Sydney Grammar School, Dr Chellappah qualified in Dentistry from the University of Adelaide. He then worked in a dental practice in Tamworth before relocating to Queensland to study Medicine at James Cook University.
Dr Chellappah completed his medical internship at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital before then working as a Principal House Officer in Plastic Surgery and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Ipswich Hospital. This was followed by four years of advanced surgical training in the speciality of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Darwin Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Gold Coast University Hospital and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
At the completion of his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training, Dr Chellappah travelled to London and worked at the prestigious King’s College Hospital to obtain further subspecialty experience in the surgical management of facial trauma and correction of congenital and acquired craniofacial deformities as the Craniofacial Surgery Fellow. During this time, at the peak of the initial wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in London, Dr Chellappah was involved in the provision of a surgical tracheostomy service for the most unwell patients affected by COVID-19. While in London, Dr Chellappah also had extensive experience with the surgical management of facial skin cancers.
Dr Chellappah is a dedicated surgeon who is always committed to advancing and furthering his knowledge and skills. He regularly attends courses and conferences both locally and overseas. He takes pride in providing his patients with personal and professional care in a considerate and empathetic fashion.
He is committed to the teaching of medical and dental students and provides regular lectures and tutorials to these groups. He is also involved in the provision of lectures to the Junior Trainees Group of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
