AProf Shiva S Subramaniam is a male Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.

A/Prof Shiva Subramaniam was born and raised in Perth, WA, before moving into a career that took him across Australia and overseas. He completed his dental degree at the University of Western Australia and later earned his medical degree from the University of Melbourne. He finished his specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Victoria, where he was awarded the gold medal from the Australian & New Zealand Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons for the highest mark in the specialist exam.

Shiva went on to do two more years of subspecialty training in Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction. During this time, he completed the Royal College of Surgeons specialty exam for the UK and Ireland, earning another gold medal for the highest score across both regions—becoming the only surgeon to win both the Australia/New Zealand and UK/Ireland awards.

After years of practising as an Oral, Maxillofacial, and Reconstructive Surgeon overseas, he returned to Australia to start working in both public and private practice.

Currently, Shiva is a consultant at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Townsville University Hospital, while also practising privately in Melbourne and Townsville. He holds academic and clinical roles at both the University of Melbourne and James Cook University.

His scope of practice includes:

  • Orthognathic (jaw) surgery/li>
  • Managing benign and malignant head and neck pathology/li>
  • Salivary gland disease/li>
  • Facial trauma treatment/li>
  • Skin cancer management/li>
  • Free tissue transfer/microvascular reconstruction for the head and neck

Shiva is fully credentialed by the RACDS (OMS) for subspecialty practice in Head & Neck Oncology and Reconstruction.
